Rabbit Ears World Tales: Volume Three entertains and enlightens with these classics from all over the world—read by your favorite stars and featuring original music by some of today's greatest artists.

Anansi includes two hilarious Jamaican folktales about the original story spinner himself, Anansi the Spider. He may be small in size but his boasts are as tall as tales get.

In the first story, Anansi takes a challenge from Tiger to outwit Snake. When he succeeds, Anansi wins possession of all the stories in the jungle. In the second story, Anansi devises a scheme to play an important role in his mother-in-law's funeral. But when he gets caught in his own lies, Anansi winds up totally bald.

East of the Sun, West of the Moon is a Scandinavian tale that takes place deep in the blue forest of Norway. Here lived a peasant farmer and his family. During a fierce storm, a white bear arrives and offers a strange proposal of wealth if their youngest daughter will go to live with him in his golden cave. The family agrees and the daughter goes off with the mysterious white bear. For a time all goes well, but when the girl ignores the kindly bear's advice, she must travel to the castle that lies East of the Sun and West of the Moon to face the horrible Troll Queen.

Two gifted narrators capture two very different stories. Bob Hoskins uses emphatically accented voices in a comic and sophisticated narration of Grimm's "Bremen Town Musicians." Herbie Hancock provides extended background music and playful sound effects as rejected pets journey to their new home. In contrast, Whoopi Goldberg's voice is low-key for "Koi and the Kola Nuts." Koi has been tricked out of his inheritance and goes in search of a village where he will be treated like the king's son that he is. The soundscape of this tale from Liberia, combined with music by Eugene Friesen and Goldberg's interpretation of all the characters, makes for a hilarious and unforgettable production. R.H.H.
