The first of a separately published two-volume set, this fully updated workbook by Tibbles (world languages coordinator, Vistamar Sch.) incorporates new conventions not included in Lee's ("Chinese in a Flash") 2004 edition. Twenty-three lessons teach ten to 12 characters and are punctuated by review segments following every 50 presented. Organized logically by simplified character form, lesson chapters begin with numbers and pronouns, while a 1200-word English glossary allows for rapid location of specific characters. A highly accessible primer, requiring no prior language familiarity.
