      Ah, the lure of the Mediterranean coast, which charmed this troika of family member-authors into part- and full-time life in Greece. The Tsakiris (father Nicholas and daughters Chloe and Olivia) found nirvana in life on Kardamili, a 450-person community that boasts almost every food that a human could want. Collaborating on this 100-recipe collection, the authors eschew most traditional Greek recipes (no hummus or moussaka) and instead focus on light, fresh, and seasonal dishes. For them, this means taking advantage of seafood, vegetables, and herbs native to the area and reaching into other cuisines--Indian, Spanish, African, and more--to meld ""best of"" culinary experiences and ingredients. A few examples: spicy berbere chickpeas, risotto with pistachios and scallions, salmon masala with wild rice, and fig frozen yogurt. Sidebars are instructive and charming, covering topics like beach bounties (sea salt and sea fennel) and monastery herbs, as are the stories. Foodies and armchair travelers alike will be powerless to resist the travelogue-like photographs of life and food.
