      The wife of Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, the author spends one-third of her memoir on the couple's courtship and eventual marriage (after seven years of single parenthood) and his addiction to pain medication. She meets her personal Waterloo in October 2004, and by then the reader is rooting for her every step of the way. Favre's text includes informative sidebars on everything from "Ten Things Every Woman Should Know About Football" and "Ten Ways To Stop Enabling the Addict in Your Life" to "Five Ways To Remember When It's Time for Your [Breast Self-Exam]" and "Fighting Fatigue." Prayer and faith play a huge roll in Favre's life and cancer recovery, but she is also grounded in the pragmatics of her treatment and offers valuable advice to others. This will score a touchdown in every library.
